Product Description:
Produced by Kollmorgen within the M Goldline Servo Motors series, the M-805-A-31-B3 is a brushless permanent-magnet unit that supplies tightly regulated rotary power to industrial axes. It serves as the electromechanical interface between a digital drive and the machine load, converting commanded phase current into reproducible torque and speed. The motor is sized for medium-to-high-inertia applications where continuous load support, precise positioning, and rapid dynamic reversals are required in automation cells and assembly platforms.
The electromagnetic profile starts with a back electromotive force constant of 136.2 Vrms/krpm, paired with a torque constant of 2.252 N·m/A rms; these values relate drive voltage and current directly to the developed shaft torque. Under steady thermal conditions, the winding can carry 35 A rms of continuous stall current, producing a continuous stall torque of 78.6 N·m. Momentary overloads are supported by a peak stall current of 108.5 A rms and a peak stall torque of 232.1 N·m, enabling fast index moves without risking demagnetization. The copper path presents only 0.23 ohms of DC resistance and 13 mH of inductance, allowing the drive to achieve high current bandwidth while keeping losses moderate. The motor has a rated power output of 10,800 W.
The nominal operating speed is 1,500 rpm, where the motor delivers a rated torque of 68.75 N·m for continuous duty. A factory-installed holding brake is energized at 24 V DC and draws 1.27 A. When power is removed, the brake clamps the shaft with 48.0 N·m of static torque to secure vertical or suspended loads. Heat generated in the stator flows through a thermal resistance of 0.18 °C/W, and the temperature rise follows a thermal time constant of 48 minutes, permitting extended cycles before thermal equilibrium is reached.
