Over the years, technology requirements for industrial applications have been increasing. The increase brought an array of motors trying to bridge the gap between applications and the availability of best-suited motors for the job. It’s this quest for reliable and high performance motors which made Kollmorgen design and manufacture the Goldline M series of motors. This series of motors can be interfaced with a wide range of applications without compromising on performance. When used together with the Kollmorgen ServoStar amplifiers, Kollmorgen Goldline motors are capable of reaching optimum performance. ServoStar Amplifiers versatile communication capabilities ease the integration of machine control data directly from the factory floor to the information system.
The Kollmorgen M-605-B- B1-B3 is a medium inertia Goldline series motor. It’s an upgrade of the low inertia Goldline series motor and has seven times more inertia that its predecessor. Goldline medium inertia motors are well designed to provide better performance in systems that have large inertia mismatches or systems that have complaint loads. The M-605-B- B1-B3 is recognized by Underwriters Laboratories, has a rugged resolver feedback, and a built-in thermostat for precise temperature regulation inside the motor’s frame. The motor supports options such as front mounted gearheads, fail-safe brake, and NEMA mountings.
The M-605-B- B1-B3 operates at its peak when interfaced with a ServoStar amplifier whose programming and monitoring can be done using a motion controller running the machine, a personal computer, a programmable logic controller, or MotionLink, a dumb terminal. Programmable parameters include, motor torque control (peak current, continuous current, etc) and motor velocity control (acceleration/deceleration rates, stop, step, jog, etc). The M-605-B- B1-B3 has an ingress protection rating of IP 65 implying that pressure on the shaft seal must not be more than 3 PSI.
