The LSM63-6-602-E1-0KA brushless servo motor is built by Kollmorgen as part of the LSM Brushless Servo Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop industrial automation tasks that require repeatable torque and speed, such as pick-and-place heads, small conveyors, and precision metering pumps. The motor couples an eight-pole rotor to a shaft with a keyway and sends position information through a 1,000-line incremental encoder. This feedback gives the drive controller the real-time data needed to command accurate bidirectional rotation and correct motion errors as operating loads change.
During continuous operation, the motor can deliver 0.7 Nm without exceeding its thermal limit, supporting a steady mechanical load at the shaft. When acceleration or transient loads occur, the magnetic circuit produces up to 2.8 Nm, allowing short bursts of torque for rapid indexing. Shaft velocity can be commanded from zero to 6000 rpm, with the upper limit based on the motor’s mechanical balance and winding insulation. The stator operates from a 230 VAC three-phase bus. The torque constant is 0.35 Nm/A, indicating the torque produced for each ampere of applied phase current. The back-electromotive force constant is 43 V/kRPM, which provides the drive with information used to calculate commutation advance across the operating speed range.
The motor has a phase inductance of 26.2 mH and a phase resistance of 8.49 Ω. These electrical values affect current rise time and steady-state copper losses, allowing the connected drive to regulate winding current appropriately. Peak winding demand reaches 8.1 A(pk), so the selected drive must supply that current without saturation during short periods of high torque. Stall current is limited to 2.1 A(pk) for continuous holding applications. The frame weighs 1.4 kg, helping reduce the mass carried by compact machinery and supporting responsive axis movement. It can tolerate a radial load of 23 kg at 6000 rpm when belt, pulley, or gear forces act on the shaft.
