The LSM23N-12-602-E1-2KA is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the LSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop motion platforms, this motor works with digital drives to provide high-bandwidth torque and velocity control for conveyors, pick-and-place gantries, and light machining spindles. Its permanent-magnet rotor and three-phase stator generate smooth rotation, while integrated feedback supports accurate positioning in automated equipment.
The motor delivers a continuous shaft torque of 1.4 Nm, sustaining production forces without overheating. At a rated speed of 6000 rpm, it fits mid-frame axes that require moderate power density and a broad operating range. For fast indexing, the drive can apply up to 15.8 A peak, allowing the motor to produce a momentary torque of 5.6 Nm. Current commands can be scaled according to the torque constant of 0.36 Nm/A. The eight-pole rotor works with a voltage constant of 43 V/krpm to keep back electromotive force within the capability of standard amplifiers. A peak stall current limit of 4.1 A protects the winding from excessive thermal loading when the shaft cannot turn.
The electrical interface is intended for 230 VAC servo amplifiers. The three-phase winding has a resistance of 3.68 Ω and an inductance of 13.0 mH, helping filter switching ripple while limiting current changes. Position feedback is supplied by a 1000-line incremental encoder, providing fine resolution for velocity and position control loops. A holding brake engages at 24 VDC to secure vertical or suspended loads when motor power is removed. The keyed shaft simplifies connection to pulleys, gearboxes, or rigid hubs that require positive torque transfer. The motor can be paired with a compatible digital servo drive that processes encoder signals, regulates phase current, and controls brake operation during machine stops.
