Product Description:
The LSM215-451-204-M-2KA is a brushless rotary servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the LSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Serving as the prime mover in precise axis drives, it converts commanded currents from a matched drive into controlled torque for positioning tables, gantries, and automated tooling. A multi-turn, high-resolution feedback device is integrated so controllers receive absolute position data over multiple revolutions, allowing rapid position recovery in industrial automation tasks. It also incorporates an electromechanical brake that operates at 24 VDC to secure vertical loads when power is removed.
At a continuous torque of 51 Nm, the motor can operate without exceeding its thermal limit. At its base electrical frequency, it turns at 2000 rpm, supporting fast and stable positioning. The motor provides a torque constant of 1.84 Nm/A, allowing the drive to generate predictable torque from the commanded current. A phase inductance of 10.0 mH limits current ripple so that servo stiffness is not compromised. During acceleration, the windings can draw up to 106.1 A peak, so the cable gauges and inverter components must accommodate this current. Additional electrical data include a 29.7 A peak stall current and a resistance of 0.50 Ω. The rotor has eight poles, which supports smooth torque production across the operating range.
For short transients, the motor produces 158 Nm of torque, providing additional force for rapid indexing. With the brake fitted, the rotor inertia increases to 0.00686 kg·m², which the controller must account for in motion calculations. A back electromotive force of 222 V/kRPM pairs with the 460 V supply to support efficient voltage modulation. The ST-60 shaft transmits the mechanical load through a keyed interface, providing positive engagement with a compatible coupling. The installed weight is 41.7 kg, which affects mounting requirements and gantry counterweight sizing. The high-voltage winding supports operation from the specified supply while the integrated feedback provides the position data required for closed-loop control.
