Product Description:
The LSM215-451-204-E2-0KA is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the LSM Brushless Servo Motors series. As a rotary actuator for industrial automation, it converts drive current into precise mechanical rotation to position tooling, conveyors, or robotic joints. Designed for closed-loop operation with Kollmorgen drives, the unit supplies high continuous torque while maintaining accuracy through incremental feedback.
At the mechanical output, the motor delivers a continuous torque of 51 Nm, which it can sustain without exceeding its thermal limits. This torque is available at a rated speed of 2000 rpm, providing stable power for indexing or constant-velocity processes. To reach this performance, the stator draws a maximum phase current of 106.1 A peak during acceleration, while stall conditions are limited to 29.7 A peak to protect the cabling and drive. With a torque constant of 1.84 Nm/A, every ampere produces a predictable increase in shaft torque. The low winding resistance of 0.50 Ω reduces resistive losses during continuous operation. Eight magnetic poles interact with the stator, and the rotor inertia of 0.0060 kg·m² supports rapid response without excessive overshoot. All windings are rated for the 460 VAC voltage class used with many North American three-phase power systems.
Peak dynamic events are handled by a momentary torque ceiling of 158 Nm, allowing the axis to overcome friction or impact loads during startup. Back electromotive force rises linearly with speed at 222 V/kRPM, which supports velocity estimation and regenerative control by the drive. The winding inductance of 10.0 mH filters current ripple during operation. A 2000-line incremental encoder delivers position data to the motion controller for closed-loop regulation. The motor has a mass of 38.5 kg, which should be considered when sizing mounts or gantry arms. A machined shaft end provides an M12 × 1.75 mm thread cut to a depth of 28 mm for securely coupling pulleys, brake disks, or gearboxes.
