The LSM165-221-454-E2-0KA is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the LSM Brushless Servo Motors series. It serves automated machinery that requires precise velocity and position control along a rotary axis. The keyed shaft provides positive torque transfer to couplings and other driven components. This interface helps prevent slippage during rapid acceleration, deceleration, or changes in rotational direction.
At its rated operating point, the motor delivers 25 Nm of continuous torque, supporting constant-load drives without overheating. When brief surges are required, it can generate 100 Nm of peak torque when paired with a drive that can supply up to 134.4 A of peak current. The stator winding accepts a 460 VAC three-phase supply and allows shaft speeds up to 4500 rpm, enabling direct coupling to high-speed mechanisms. With a torque constant of 0.91 Nm/A, the controller can calculate output torque from phase current for current-mode control. The motor is supplied without a brake, leaving the shaft free when power is removed. External mechanical holding equipment is therefore required when a stationary load must remain secured without motor torque.
The motor has a 30.3 A peak stall current, which the matched drive must withstand without tripping during demanding low-speed or stationary operating conditions. During rotation, the eight-pole rotor generates a back electromotive force of 109 V/krpm, so the drive must maintain sufficient DC-bus voltage at the maximum listed speed. Electrical response is governed by a phase inductance of 3.6 mH and a phase resistance of 0.33 Ω, providing predictable current rise times for high-bandwidth control. The rotor inertia is 0.00165 kg·m², supporting fast acceleration and responsive changes in speed. The motor has an overall mass of 21.0 kg, which must be accommodated by the machine mounting surface. Position and speed feedback are provided by a 2000-line incremental encoder, allowing the drive to regulate motion throughout the operating range.
