The LSM130-102-304-M-2KA is a brushless servo motor built by Kollmorgen within the LSM Brushless Servo Motors series. This rotary unit couples directly to machine axes that require closed-loop speed and position control, including packaging lines, pick-and-place modules, and material-handling stages. Torque is produced through permanent-magnet interaction and electronic commutation, allowing the motor to provide precise and repeatable shaft motion under changing loads. The brushless design avoids mechanical commutator wear and supports responsive operation during repetitive motion cycles.
The motor provides a continuous output torque of 11.5 Nm at a rated shaft speed of 3000 rpm. Its torque constant of 1.28 Nm/A relates drive current to developed torque, allowing the controller to regulate output according to the applied load. For rapid acceleration, the winding can accept up to 48.1 A peak and produce a momentary peak torque of 52 Nm before the drive limits current. The rotor has eight poles, which support smooth electromagnetic torque production across the operating speed range. The 460 V class winding has an inductance of 12.4 mH, which moderates the rate of current change during inverter switching. This electrical behavior helps the drive maintain stable current control during acceleration, deceleration, and speed regulation.
At zero speed, the motor has a stall current of 9.6 A peak for producing holding torque while the shaft remains stationary. Its multi-turn, high-resolution feedback supplies absolute position data to the controller, eliminating the need for a reference move after a normal shutdown. The voltage constant is 154 V/kRPM, keeping the generated back EMF compatible with the intended drive voltage as shaft speed increases. An integrated 24 VDC brake supports controlled holding when the axis must remain stationary, particularly in vertical-load applications.
