Product Description:
The LSM100-35-454-E2-0KA servo motor is built by Kollmorgen within the LSM Brushless Servo Motors series. This rotary unit combines a permanent-magnet rotor with a precision feedback package so that motion controllers can regulate speed and torque in automated packaging, pick-and-place, or indexing axes. As a brushless design, it eliminates commutator wear. The size 100 frame is intended for medium-power machinery that requires rapid acceleration, repeatable positioning, and continuous-duty operation in closed-loop industrial settings.
The motor delivers a continuous torque output of 4.0 Nm, allowing it to sustain conveyor loads without thermal derating. During rapid indexing, it can reach a maximum speed of 4500 rpm, based on the mechanical balance of the rotor and the drive frequency. Short bursts draw up to 22.6 A peak, providing the current reserve needed to produce its 16.0 Nm peak torque and overcome inertia or stiction during startup. Position and velocity are monitored by a 2000-line incremental encoder that sends quadrature signals to the drive for high-resolution commutation. A stall current limit of 5.0 A peak protects the windings when the shaft is locked. The torque constant is 0.86 Nm/A, linking electromagnetic output to phase current for straightforward controller tuning.
The rotor has a low inertia of 0.000144 kg·m², allowing fast reversals with modest control gains. The windings have an inductance of 16.8 mH and a resistance of 5.9 Ω, which affect the electrical time constant and servo-loop bandwidth. The magnetic circuit generates a back electromotive force of 103 V/krpm, so a compatible drive must supply proportionally more voltage as motor speed increases. Mechanical coupling is provided by an ST-60 keyway shaft with an M5 × 0.8 mm × 12.5 mm threaded end that accommodates suitable puller tools. The motor has an overall mass of 5.3 kg, supporting rigid installation without additional bearing blocks. Its shaft configuration provides positive torque transfer to keyed couplings while allowing practical disassembly from connected machinery.
