Product Description:
The LSM100-22-454-M-0KA is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the LSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for integration with compatible digital drives, the motor converts command currents into precise mechanical rotation, making it suitable for indexing conveyors, electronic camming, and rapid tool positioning in automated machinery. Its frameless magnetic design and eight-pole rotor enable direct coupling to loads, which reduces backlash and improves positional accuracy in industrial automation systems.
At its continuous operating point, the motor supplies 2.5 Nm while maintaining a rated shaft speed of 4500 rpm. This operating point allows the motor to sustain its nominal load while keeping the winding temperature within the permitted range. The winding has an inductance of 25.8 mH, which affects current response and drive tuning. A torque constant of 0.82 Nm/A relates drive current to output torque, so approximately 3.05 A is needed to produce the continuous torque. Transient demands can draw a peak phase current of 16.3 A(pk). A stall current of 3.3 A(pk) allows the motor to hold a static load within its thermal limits. The multi-turn feedback transducer reports the absolute rotor angle across multiple revolutions, reducing the need for repeated homing routines. The motor has a net mass of 4.2 kg, and its keyed shaft provides positive engagement with a compatible coupling.
For rapid acceleration, the stator can deliver a peak torque of 11 Nm. The low rotor inertia of 0.00011 kg·m² helps the axis accelerate rapidly and settle quickly after each commanded move. When operated from a DC bus supplied by 460 V mains power, the motor produces a back electromotive force of 99 V/kRPM, which allows the drive to estimate speed during open-loop starts. Copper losses are limited by a phase resistance of 10.7 Ω, helping the motor retain thermal capacity during demanding duty cycles. Because the motor does not include a holding brake, an external mechanical lock is required when an unpowered vertical load must remain stationary.
