The LSM100-22-454-E2-2KA is a brushless servo motor built by Kollmorgen within the LSM Brushless Servo Motors series. It provides closed-loop rotary actuation for positioning tables, pick-and-place arms, and other automation axes where compact dimensions and high dynamic response are required. The unit works with a suitable drive to convert electrical power into precise motion, and its integrated 2000-line incremental encoder supplies speed and position feedback to the control loop. This feedback allows the drive to correct motion errors during acceleration, deceleration, and steady operation.
The motor produces a continuous torque of 2.5 Nm under forced convection. Rated operation occurs at 4500 rpm, providing substantial mechanical output without excessive centrifugal stress. The three-phase stator is wound for 460 V, reducing current levels and cable losses over long runs between the cabinet and machine. Electromagnetic coupling is characterized by a torque constant of 0.82 Nm/A and a winding inductance of 25.8 mH. Together with the winding resistance of 10.7 Ω, these electrical characteristics affect the drive’s current-loop bandwidth. The stator has eight poles, and the peak stall current is limited to 3.3 A to prevent thermal overload during demanding operating cycles.
During rapid indexing, the electromagnetic system can deliver a peak torque of 11 Nm, supported by a transient phase-current limit of 16.3 A peak. The rotor assembly, including the holding brake, has a moment of inertia of 0.000149 kg-m², enabling quick acceleration when the motor is matched to a light load. Mechanical installation is supported by a precision-ground shaft with a diameter of 14 mm. The motor has a net assembled mass of 5 kg, which limits the additional load placed on supporting machine structures. The spring-applied brake is released by a 24 VDC supply and secures vertical axes when power is removed. A back electromotive force constant of 99 V/kRPM supports velocity estimation by the connected drive.
