The IL18100A3TRC4 is a brushless direct-drive linear motor from Kollmorgen. The IL18 series device functions as a three-phase servomotor. The ironless unit features a modular magnet way with two rows of magnets placed opposite to each other. This arrangement offers the magnet circuit with the required flux return path. The direct-drive device has high positional accuracy and very smooth velocity. The unit is capable of meeting the payload and stroke requirements of any application. It has 21.3ARMS peak current and 0.29°C/W thermal resistance.
The linear motor incorporates a brushless design and a Hall Effect type of feedback for sinusoidal commutation. The unit implements a flat rotor that serves as the magnet track or magnet way. It has a light mass and high thrust force, along with zero-cogging attractive force. The device is suitable for use in instances where maximum constant velocity, high acceleration of light loads, and low bearing friction are required.
