Product Description:
The M.1015.8012 is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the HSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop motion axes in industrial automation, the unit converts commanded stator currents into precise shaft rotation so that conveyors, gantries, and tooling spindles can follow programmed motion profiles. Its construction supports high-duty cycles and repeatable performance in packaging lines, material-handling stages, and coordinated robotic cells.
During normal operation, the motor delivers a continuous torque of 20.9 Nm, ensuring steady drive capability for long production runs. When short bursts of acceleration are required, the electromagnetic stack supplies a peak output of 52.2 Nm before thermal limits are reached. The rotor can spin up to 3000 rpm, letting linear stages or gearboxes achieve high traverse rates without mechanical overspeed. The windings are rated for a 230 V bus, so the unit connects directly to mid-voltage servo amplifiers. Electrical copper losses are moderated by a phase resistance of 0.18 Ω, helping keep heat rise predictable at rated current. Position feedback is supplied by an incremental encoder with 2,000 lines, giving the drive sufficient resolution for tight velocity loops.
An integrated spring-applied brake secures the load when power is removed. It resists motion with 31.1 Nm of holding torque and exhibits 29 arcminutes of backlash, supporting positional stability on vertical axes. The brake coil operates at 90 VDC and draws 0.48 A of direct current. The brake adds 0.0027 kg·m² of reflected inertia, while the total motor mass is 31.6 kg. Overall length reaches 406 mm with the brake installed, which must be considered for installation in tight machine bays. Dynamic response is aided by a phase inductance of 2.2 mH. The electromagnetic design provides a square-wave torque constant of 0.72 Nm/A and a back-EMF constant of 80 V/krpm; these values support proper amplifier current and speed settings.
