Product Description:
The HSM430 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the HSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop positioning and speed regulation, the unit converts command currents from a matched drive into controlled shaft torque, making it suitable for pick-and-place axes, packaging stations, and similar automation tasks. Operating from a 230 V DC bus, the motor connects directly to many single-axis servo amplifiers commonly used in industrial motion systems.
At the electrical level, the motor delivers a continuous output of 3.4 Nm and can reach 11.3 Nm during short acceleration bursts, providing a clear ceiling for sizing couplings and gears. With a torque constant of 0.54 Nm/A, the motor provides a predictable mechanical response based on the current supplied by the drive. The back-EMF constant is 60 V/kRPM, so the generated voltage at operating speed can be considered when selecting compatible control equipment and insulation. The stator windings have a phase inductance of 9 mH and a cold phase resistance of 2.0 Ω; together, these values affect current rise time and steady-state losses. Proper mounting is supported by the 145 mm bolt circle and 10 mm through-holes. A thread depth of 15 mm allows the frame to be secured without distortion.
The motor supports radial loads up to 152 lb at 1000 rpm, allowing direct belt tension without an outboard bearing. A rotor inertia of 0.00025 kg-m² balances fast indexing with stable movement, while an overall weight of 6.2 kg helps limit moving mass on gantry axes. The housing has a length of 213 mm, allowing the motor to fit within medium frame envelopes when clearance behind the mounting face is limited. An M6 × 1.0 mm shaft thread provides an attachment point for push-off tools during maintenance, reducing the risk of bearing damage when a coupling or pulley is removed.
