By combining permanent-magnet and variable-reluctance features, it advances one discrete step whenever the drive issues a control pulse. This supports accurate open-loop positioning in pick-and-place heads, labeling machines, and light-duty indexers used across automated assembly lines.

Physically, the unit occupies the NEMA mounting envelope with a 2.25 in circular frame, corresponding to the NEMA 23 size code, so it can retrofit common brackets without adapter plates. The motor uses Class B, 130°C windings, and resistance to dielectric breakdown is supported by the 340 Vdc insulation voltage rating and an insulation resistance of 100 megohms. The motor employs a laminated rotor and is built with two magnetic stacks to raise detent torque. NEMA-style face mounting is supported, and wiring exits as regular lead wires for straightforward field termination.
