Product Description:
The M.1015.7883 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the FSM Brushless Servo Motors series. It is intended for precision positioning and velocity control in industrial automation equipment, supplying commanded torque to linear stages, rotary indexers, or coordinated multi-axis assemblies that rely on closed-loop feedback. The 230 V voltage class supports connection to common servo amplifiers used in industrial motion-control systems.
The electromagnetic section is optimized for dynamic response. A maximum mechanical speed of 3000 rpm pairs with a back-EMF constant of 86 V/krpm, providing the drive with the voltage relationship required for commanded velocity. Torque conversion efficiency is characterized by a sine-wave constant of 0.71 Nm/A, while the square-wave value rises to 0.78 Nm/A for six-step operation. Winding inductance is 3.3 mH, limiting current ripple when the motor is powered by a PWM inverter, while a phase resistance of 0.51 Ω governs steady-state copper losses. The motor has eight poles, while the optical encoder provides 2000-line quadrature feedback and allows the controller to resolve 32,000 counts per revolution. The encoder electronics accept a regulated 5 VDC supply for differential signaling.
An integrated permanent-magnet brake secures vertical or suspended loads. Its static capability reaches 31.1 Nm when 90 VDC is applied, and release requires 0.48 A of coil current. During fast cycles, the rotor’s kinetic energy is moderated by an inertia of 0.007 kg·m², enabling quick acceleration without excessive drive demand. Thermal performance is supported by a case-to-ambient resistance of 0.45 °C/W, so continuous operation at rated current keeps the winding temperature within insulation limits. The assembled motor weighs 27.3 kg, which should be considered when selecting mounting hardware and supporting structures. The rotating assembly is factory-balanced to control vibration during operation, while the integrated brake and encoder support load retention and closed-loop position feedback.
