The FSM630 brushless servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen within the FSM Brushless Servo Motors series. It serves as a rotary actuator in industrial automation, translating current commands from a matched drive into precise torque and velocity for conveyors, packaging stations, or robotic joints. By using permanent-magnet excitation and electronic commutation, the unit provides repeatable motion control without the wear associated with brushed designs.

The motor has a friction torque of 0.46 Nm, which represents the mechanical drag the drive must overcome at startup. During operation, the motor can reach a shaft speed of 3000 rpm while maintaining smooth rotation through its 8 magnet poles. The torque constant is 0.73 Nm/A with sinusoidal excitation and 0.81 Nm/A with square-wave excitation. These values indicate how much torque the motor generates for a given amount of current under each excitation method.
