The FSM620 is a brushless servo motor built by Kollmorgen within the FSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop motion systems, the unit converts electrical power into precisely controlled rotary torque, enabling coordinated positioning and speed regulation in packaging machines, gantries, and other industrial axes. Its electromagnetic design pairs rare-earth magnets with balanced windings, making it suitable for high-cycle servo loops found in automated assembly lines.
The motor delivers a continuous shaft output of 20.8 Nm, allowing sustained load support without overheating, while its overload capacity peaks at 42.4 Nm for transient acceleration or startup events. A torque constant of 0.70 Nm/A relates phase current directly to produced torque, simplifying current-loop tuning. The stator is wound for a nominal bus voltage of 230 V, and its 1.7 mH phase inductance together with 0.26 Ω resistance establishes electrical time constants that influence drive bandwidth. An internal thermal switch opens the control circuitry if the winding temperature rises beyond safe limits.
