Product Description:
The EB-204-B-91-001 is an explosion-proof servo motor engineered by Kollmorgen within the EB Explosion Proof Motors series. Its flame-tight housing makes it suitable for Class I, Division 1 locations where flammable gases may be present. The unit converts three-phase electrical power into controlled mechanical rotation for valves, agitators, or material-handling axes that must continue operating inside hazardous process areas. By pairing with a compatible Kollmorgen drive, the motor supports closed-loop regulation of position, speed, or torque so that automated machinery can keep tight process tolerances under demanding operating conditions.
During steady operation the windings are energized from a three-phase supply at 230 VRMS. With a phase resistance of 2.48 ohms and an inductance of 38 mH, the electrical circuit presents an electrical time constant of 15.3 msec, while the rotor’s 0.90 msec mechanical time constant characterizes its speed response. Under these rated conditions the motor draws a continuous phase current of 5.7 ARMS and develops a shaft output of 2.34 hp. The drive regulates the rotor to its rated speed of 3600 RPM, producing a rated torque of 4.62 N·m. For brief acceleration intervals the controller may command a peak line current of 17.4 ARMS, provided the applied voltage does not exceed the 250 VRMS insulation limit.
Dynamic limits are governed by the overload torque envelope. The motor can deliver a peak torque of 13.99 N·m for rapid starts, while sustaining a continuous stall output of 4.88 N·m when the shaft is held motionless. Current-based control is simplified by a torque sensitivity of 0.85 N·m/ARMS, allowing the drive to predict mechanical output from commanded amperage. At speed, the winding generates a back electromotive force of 51.2 VRMS/KRPM, which indicates the voltage needed from the drive as velocity increases.
