The EB-106-B-91-B3-006 is an explosion-proof servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the EB Explosion Proof Motors series. It is intended for use in hazardous-location automation where flammable gases or dust are present, yet precise closed-loop motion is still required. By combining flame-containment construction with servo winding technology, the motor can be mounted directly on machine frames in classified areas without a separate purging enclosure. This layout supports controlled motion on process equipment that must keep ignition sources contained while maintaining accurate axis response.
This model is optimized for continuous operation at a rated speed of 7500 rpm while accepting a line-to-line supply of 230 VRMS. Under those conditions, it produces a continuous stall torque of 2.22 N-m from a continuous line current of 6.0 ARMS. Its torque constant is 0.370 N-m/ARMS, and its back electromotive force is 22.5 V/krpm. The winding resistance is 1.60 Ω, and the phase-to-phase inductance is 9.4 mH, which helps limit current rise and support stable servo response. The rotor uses four poles and delivers a rated mechanical output of 1.5 kW, or 2.0 HP, while staying within thermal limits during continuous duty.
For short-term overloads, the unit can deliver a peak torque of 6.35 N-m when supplied with a peak line current of 18.0 ARMS. A mechanical limit of 10000 rpm protects the rotor from excessive centrifugal forces during overspeed events. Dynamic holding is provided by an integral brake that engages at 24 VDC, allowing the load to remain stationary during a power interruption. That feature is useful in applications that must keep position during a supply loss or controlled stop. The explosion-proof housing also helps move heat away from the active parts so thermal rise remains predictable during both steady running and brief overload periods.
