The EB-102-A-11 is an explosion-proof brushless motor produced by Kollmorgen within the EB Explosion Proof Motors series. It serves automation cells that are classified as hazardous, supplying controlled rotation to pumps, agitators, or conveyors where ignitable gases or dust are present. A flame-tight housing and a 3/4-14 NPT lead exit keep internal arcs from reaching the atmosphere, enabling the motor to deliver torque in locations that require ignition-protected equipment.

At a continuous stall torque of 0.84 N-m, the motor can hold or slowly rotate a load without thermal overload, while its rated shaft output of 0.73 hp represents the continuous power available during duty cycles. Supplying this power requires a phase current of 2.4 A RMS from a drive matched to the winding rating of 230 V RMS. The back electromotive force is 21.32 V/krpm, a value used by the controller for speed estimation and regenerative behavior. Additional electrical properties include 6.8 Ω DC resistance and 30 mH phase inductance, which affect current rise time and heating. The frame is 224.3 mm long, weighs 2.5 kg, and is supplied with 609 mm pre-terminated leads for direct conduit connection. Those leads support fixed wiring layouts where a sealed conduit entry is preferred over a separate connector assembly.

Dynamic motion uses a peak torque of 2.41 N-m, attainable when the drive supplies up to 7.2 A RMS for short periods. This reserve supports acceleration and helps the motor absorb brief process disturbances without a large drop in commanded speed. The rotor’s maximum speed of 10000 rpm allows higher operating speed before flux weakening is needed, and a rotor inertia of 0.0000309 kg-m² supports quick reversals with limited overshoot. The threaded lead exit mates with explosion-proof conduit fittings. Heat from the sealed stator is transferred to the mounting surface so the motor can operate in classified areas with a compatible Kollmorgen drive.
