The DBL2H00040-BR2-000-S40 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the DBL Synchronous Servomotors series. Engineered as a compact actuator, it uses a high-speed winding to deliver rapid acceleration for pick-and-place, packaging, and indexing axes in industrial automation. Its brushless design supports electronically controlled commutation, allowing a compatible servo drive to regulate torque, speed, and position during repetitive machine cycles. The compact housing is suitable for installations where available space is limited but responsive motion remains necessary.
The motor features a square mounting interface with a 55 mm flange that fits compact gearboxes and brackets on small machine modules. Inside, a 2-pole rotor works with a resolver to provide rotor position feedback to the drive. A smooth shaft transmits torque to a clamping coupling without requiring a keyed connection. Housing protection reaches IP54, helping prevent harmful dust accumulation and water splashes from reaching internal components. A contact shield fitted to the feedback connector helps block dust ingress when the connection is open for maintenance. The square flange and compact shaft interface allow the motor to connect directly to appropriately sized machine components without an oversized mounting arrangement.
The motor operates at ambient temperatures from 5 °C to +40 °C and tolerates up to 95% relative humidity without condensation. Power and feedback cables attach through field-replaceable connectors, allowing the cables to be disconnected without opening the motor housing. Their angled routing toward the B-side keeps cable bends compact in shallow enclosures and reduces interference with nearby machine components. The integrated holding brake supplies 1.2 Nm of torque to retain lightly loaded axes when motor power is removed. This brake is particularly useful for preventing an unpowered vertical load from drifting, although the machine design must still provide suitable safety measures for the application. Thermal management is aided by the standard-length stator, while the absence of a shaft keyway eliminates stress concentrations associated with keyed couplings.
