Product Description:
The DBL2H00040-03S-000-S40 is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the DBL Synchronous Servomotors series. It is intended for closed-loop motion axes in industrial automation where precise torque and speed control are required. Typical applications include pick-and-place equipment, small indexing tables, and compact gantry drives.
The motor operates at ambient temperatures from +5 to +40 °C, so the surrounding enclosure must maintain air within that range. A permissible atmospheric moisture level of 95% relative humidity allows installation in humid production areas, provided condensation is avoided. The front mounting face has a 55 mm flange, making the unit compatible with gearheads or mechanical adapters designed for that footprint. Its housing has an IP54 protection rating, which limits dust ingress and protects against splashing water. High-pressure washdowns must still be kept away from the shaft seals and electrical connections. A smooth shaft transfers torque through friction-fit couplings and eliminates keyway stress concentrations, so properly sized clamping hubs are needed to prevent slippage.
The feedback circuit uses an encoder, providing the drive controller with rotor-position data for accurate commutation. The device has a single-turn feedback configuration that reports position within one mechanical revolution. A machine with movement spanning multiple revolutions may therefore require a homing routine after power-up. The stator uses a high-speed winding, enabling elevated base speeds while requiring a compatible drive voltage. Power and signal connections are made through sealed connectors, and the plugs are angled toward the B-side to reduce installation depth. The standard-length housing keeps the motor’s overall mass and inertia moderate. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, so an external mechanical device is needed when passive load retention is required. An insulated contact shell at the feedback connector provides additional electrical protection.
