The PRDRHP720SND-65 drive from Kollmorgen belongs to the CD Servostar CD Drives series. As a servo amplifier, it regulates power between a Goldline submersible motor and the plant supply, pairing motion-control electronics with current loops that suit demanding underwater or sealed-pump axes. By converting DC bus energy into modulated three-phase outputs, the unit maintains torque, monitors temperature and voltage thresholds, and communicates resolver position data to higher-level controllers within industrial automation cells.
The drive delivers a continuous phase current of 6 Arms, allowing steady operation of mid-frame Goldline windings. For short load surges, it supplies 12 Arms for two seconds and can reach 18 Arms during 500-millisecond acceleration bursts, letting machinery overcome inertia without oversizing the power stage. Current regulation closes every 62.5 µs, and the switching stage operates at a carrier frequency of 8 kHz. The current ripple frequency is 16 kHz, which helps limit electromagnetic interference affecting adjacent equipment. Internal power loss is limited to 80 W, and the “No Comp” voltage level setting passes DC bus voltage to the inverter without active compensation. Resolver feedback supports compatibility with the Goldline submersible motor family. If the DC bus voltage drops below the 90 VDC undervoltage threshold, the drive disables its output to protect connected equipment and cabling.
Position accuracy is refined by a control loop that updates every 500 µs, synchronizing the resolver angle with commanded motion profiles. The enclosure measures 256.0 mm high, 163.0 mm wide, and 83.3 mm deep, while the assembly weighs only 2.22 kg, which keeps cabinet rail loading low. The compact dimensions also reduce the panel depth needed for installation in multi-axis drive racks. Protective thresholds are built into the drive to prevent excessive electrical and thermal stress. The output stage trips when the DC bus exceeds 430 VDC or when the internal temperature sensor reaches 80 °C, protecting power semiconductors from operation beyond these limits.
