The PRD-MZ10B00Z-0S is a digital drive module built by Kollmorgen for the CD Servostar CD Drives series. It converts incoming three-phase mains power into a controlled DC link and synthesized AC output for driving motion axes in automated cells. Acting as the bridge between the plant supply and a motor, the unit provides regulated energy and control interfaces for precision positioning, coordinated speed tracking, and torque regulation. It is suitable for packaging equipment, material-handling systems, and general machine-tool applications that require controlled motor operation.
On the supply side, the drive accepts an input voltage of 380/480 V AC, allowing direct connection to common industrial distribution panels without step-down transformers. It operates with mains frequencies of 50/60 Hz, permitting installation on either common frequency standard. During full-load acceleration, the rectifier draws up to 16 A per phase, which affects cable sizing, protection device selection, and cabinet thermal design. Once energized, the power section can process 10/13 kW, matching mid-range servo and induction motors used on single-axis gantries or pump skids. Rotor position feedback is handled by a resolver, which supplies shaft-angle information in the presence of electrical noise. This feedback supports stable vector control and helps prevent commutation errors at low speeds.
The inverter produces a motor phase current of 10 A per phase, providing sufficient electromagnetic force for moderate-inertia loads without requiring oversized conductors. At this current, the converter section delivers 5.2/6.5 kW of output power to the connected motor. The synthesized output voltage reaches 520/650 V AC, supporting motor operation across the drive’s intended speed and load range while remaining compatible with appropriate motor insulation. A three-phase topology uses sinusoidal modulation to reduce harmonic distortion and keep winding temperatures predictable. This modulation also supports compatibility with standard electromagnetic compatibility filtering practices in industrial control cabinets.
