The PRD-B040SSIz-63 is a servo amplifier built by Kollmorgen as part of the CD ServoStar product series. This amplifier is a high-performance device that is able to meet the needs of many industrial applications, such as machine tooling, electronic assembly, and packaging machines. It is equipped with a vast array of features, including system current-limiting capability, current loop adaptive gain, Back EMF compensator, and digital current loop control. The amplifier has its own tailored software environment through which operators can carry out configuration operations. The PRD-B040SSIz-63 features an Auto Tune Feature which allows it to carry out automatic control loop tuning; it also operates with a first and second order low pass filtering capability. The advanced control algorithms of this product include the extended standard pole placement, proportional integral, standard pole placement, and Pseudo-derived w/feed forward.
The PRD-B040SSIz-63 servo amplifier maintains an incremental and absolute positioning with an “In” position indicator. Unlike other amplifier designs, the PRD-B040SSIz-63 is flexible enough to control linear and rotary motion. With either of these motors, the amplifier features Kollmorgen’s special patented torque angle control to maximize motor output power. It also provides thermal protection control that is adaptable to any motor.
During operation, the PRD-B040SSIz-63 amplifier is able to detect several operation faults and alert operators through status display units. It is possible to install several units of this product together. They should be installed vertically and at a distance of about 0.5 inches apart for proper ventilation.
