Product Description:

The PRD-B040ASIC-32 is a digital servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the Servostar CD Drives series. Intended for factory automation, the unit conditions incoming AC power and delivers controlled three-phase power to compatible brushless motors. It interfaces with resolver feedback to close the velocity and position loops required for coordinated motion.

During normal operation, the drive accepts a single-phase or three-phase supply of 115/230 VAC and draws up to 0.88/1.4 kVA from the line. After conversion, it can deliver a continuous output of 0.7/1.1 kVA and supply the motor with a steady phase current of 3 A rms. A carrier frequency of 16 kHz shapes the pulse-width modulation waveform, keeping audible noise low while preserving current resolution. Resolver signals from the motor are processed by the built-in analog-to-digital converter to align the stator field with the rotor position. This feedback permits smooth torque production across the operating speed range. The drive is configured to operate with Kollmorgen Goldline submersible motor frames without requiring additional interface boards.

Protection logic monitors the DC link and heat sink during operation. An overvoltage threshold of 430 VDC disconnects the power stage during regenerative events, while the inverter also shuts down if the bus voltage falls below 90 VDC to protect the control electronics. The thermal cutoff is set at 80 °C, allowing the assembly to cool before operation resumes. Short-circuit detection provides additional protection for the wiring and connected Goldline motor. With a mass of 1.61 kg, the enclosure can be mounted directly to machine panels without extensive reinforcement. Convection cooling is generally sufficient when the drive is installed in a cabinet with adequate industrial airflow and the required installation clearances.
