The PRD-AM30000z-45 is a digital servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen for the Servostar CD Drives series. It regulates current, velocity, and position loops to command brushless or induction motors in automated machinery. Through resolver feedback, the unit closes the control loop internally and forwards status data to higher-level controllers. These capabilities support controlled motion in packaging equipment, material-handling systems, and other general automation applications. The internal control architecture allows the drive to coordinate motor torque, speed, and position without requiring an external device to perform the primary feedback calculations.
At the power stage, the drive delivers a continuous output of 6 Arms, while short motion bursts can reach 12 Arms for up to two seconds before the output returns to the thermal limit. Pulse-width modulation operates at 8 kHz, so the motor terminals receive a high-resolution voltage waveform with reduced audible noise. The current loop is refreshed every 62.5 µs, allowing rapid torque corrections during changes in speed or mechanical load. Internal electronics dissipate 80 W as heat during rated operation. Compatible motor selection and cabinet cooling must account for this electrical operating range. Adequate airflow around the housing helps prevent accumulated heat from affecting sustained drive performance.
For faster transients, the amplifier can supply 18 Arms for 500 milliseconds. Its commanded vector is superimposed on a motor ripple carrier of 16 kHz, which minimizes cogging in high-pole machines. Velocity updates occur every 250 µs, while position calculations occur every 500 µs, allowing the drive to track fine motion increments without external interpolation. An overtemperature sensor disables the gate drive at 80 °C to protect the power devices. The housing measures 256.0 mm high, 83.3 mm wide, and 163.0 mm deep. It weighs 2.22 kg, allowing compact side-by-side installation on a DIN rail while preserving access to the drive connections.
