Product Description:
The PRD-AG50000F-06 is a servo amplifier produced by Kollmorgen for the CD Servostar CD Drives series. Designed as a compact panel-mount module, it converts bus power into controlled PWM output for servo axes in industrial automation. The housing occupies 83.3 mm in width, 163.0 mm in depth, and 256.0 mm in height, allowing dense cabinet layouts. A 24 VDC external logic supply keeps the control electronics active during a loss of line power, while an isolated fault relay rated at 1 A reports status to safety circuits. A 15 A line fuse protects the input path from short-circuit events.
At nominal load, the drive delivers a continuous phase current of 6 Arms, which can support medium-frame servo motors in appropriately ventilated installations. For rapid acceleration, it can supply 12 Arms for two seconds and up to 18 Arms for 500 milliseconds; these overload ratings allow the axis to overcome inertia without tripping. The internal power stage switches at 8 kHz, a carrier frequency that balances motor acoustics with semiconductor losses. Those losses result in 80 W of internal heat dissipation, so enclosure airflow must be sufficient to keep the module within its thermal limits.
Thermal and bus supervision protect the drive during abnormal operating conditions. An overtemperature sensor halts operation at 80 °C, preventing damage to power devices when cabinet cooling is inadequate. DC-link monitoring opens the gate drive if the bus voltage rises above 430 VDC or falls below 90 VDC, shielding connected motors from uncontrolled transients. The aluminum housing weighs 2.22 kg, which eases mounting on a DIN rail or backplate and minimizes the load on cabinet supports. Resolver feedback support provides the drive with motor position information for closed-loop control.
