The PRD-AG50000E-06 is a digital servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the CD Servostar CD Drives series. It converts rectified bus voltage into a controlled three-phase output that powers brushless and synchronous motors in automated machinery. Resolver feedback is processed inside the drive, so position, speed, and torque are regulated without external electronics. Typical duties include indexing axes, web tension control, and coordinated motion stages on assembly and packaging lines. The unit is installed in 208–480 VAC control cabinets and fastens to a heat sink plate, forming the link between the motion controller and the motor windings.
During continuous operation, the drive delivers 6 Arms to the motor, providing the thermal baseline for sizing conductors and cooling. Short bursts can be supplied at 12 Arms for two seconds or 18 Arms for 500 milliseconds, giving extra torque for acceleration and shock loads. The current waveform is generated by a PWM inverter that switches at 8 kHz, while the effective ripple seen by the motor windings is filtered to a carrier frequency of 16 kHz to minimize audible noise. An external control rail of 24 VDC powers the logic circuits, so parameter memory and fault diagnostics remain active whenever the main bus is de-energized.
