The PRD-0050E00I-03 is a high-performance drive controller unit built by Kollmorgen Automation to provide reliable control of the speed, torque and position of the connected motor unit. This controller is built with a slender enclosure; it is an IP20 product unit and is classified as a maintenance-free device. During operation, this motor unit provides a current loop sampling rate of 12 kilohertz and an input resolution of approximately 12 bits. The motor unit is flexible in operation and can be used with different feedback designs, including resolvers and incremental encoders with the Hall effect. Apart from its control operation, it also protects connected motors against over-temperature, over-current, over-voltage conditions and feedback loss. This unit also operates with a resolver-based configuration resolution of up to 65536 quad counts per revolution.
The PRD-0050E00I-03 industrial controller unit is an air-cooled device; there is an air blower installed inside its enclosure to get rid of excess heat through the natural process of convection. Despite this temperature regulation mechanism, this controller unit is still sensitive to high ambient temperature and should not be used at temperature levels higher than 45 degrees Celsius. Sufficient clearance should also be allowed during installation for easy air circulation around the controller unit.
The PRD-0050E00I-03 maintains a velocity loop control of 4 kilohertz during operation; its PWM switching frequency is also about 16 kilohertz. The maximum permissible input frequency of encoder systems used with this controller is three megahertz; installation height should also be maintained below 1000 meters above sea level. There is a display unit integrated into this motor unit; this display unit has several operating modules, which includes the power-up, steady state, flashing state, and momentary state.
