Internal Product Review
The LE10702 is a Kollmorgen CD Servostar CD drive that delivers precise motion control on 230 VAC 3-phase input. A 16 kHz current loop rate paired with encoder feedback supports crisp response and stable servo tuning. A 10 Amp rated current and 20 A RMS/phase peak current for 2 s make the LE10702 a strong choice for demanding axes.

Product Description:
The LE10702 is an AC servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the Servostar CD Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency mains power into a pulse-width-modulated output that regulates the torque, speed, and position of brushless servo motors used on conveyors, pick-and-place axes, and packaging stations. By coordinating power delivery with encoder feedback, the unit provides closed-loop motion control for repeatable cycles and precise registration in automated equipment. Its control architecture responds to changing commands and operating loads while maintaining coordinated motor movement.
The drive accepts a 230 VAC three-phase supply, allowing direct connection to standard factory power without a step-down transformer. Motion commands can be issued through a ±10 VDC differential analog input, allowing legacy PLCs to provide speed or torque references with minimal signal conditioning. An internal converter processes those references with 12-bit resolution, reducing quantization error during fine positioning tasks. The current regulator operates at a switching frequency of 16 kHz, enabling fast attenuation of load disturbances while supporting low audible noise. The drive provides a continuous output current of 10 A, making it suitable for sustained operation with compatible mid-frame Kollmorgen servo motors. Internal current regulation also helps protect the motor and power stage from excessive thermal loading during extended moves.
For rapid acceleration, the amplifier can supply a peak output current of 20 A RMS per phase for two seconds. During deceleration or an emergency stop, excess kinetic energy can be redirected to an optional ERH-26 dynamic brake module instead of being absorbed entirely by the DC bus capacitors. The drive requires an input capacity of 4.6 kVA per axis and supports a mechanical output capacity of 3.5 kVA. Parameter setup and diagnostics are available through a single-ended RS-232 serial port, providing a direct connection to a compatible computer. The velocity-loop update rate of 4 kHz supports stable speed regulation when gearboxes, couplings, or changing payloads introduce inertia variations. This rapid control response allows the drive to correct speed deviations before they significantly affect the commanded motion profile.
