The CR10705 servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the CD Servostar CD Drives series. It conditions three-phase mains power into a variable-voltage, variable-frequency output suited for permanent-magnet servomotors. Integrated current, velocity, and position loops allow repeatable motion profiles in packaging, pick-and-place, and indexing applications. It occupies minimal panel depth, allowing dense multi-axis installations inside standard 19-inch enclosures without increasing cabinet height.
Operating from a nominal 230 VAC three-phase supply, the drive can deliver a continuous output of 3.5 kVA while providing a nominal motor phase current of 10 A. For brief acceleration or shock loads, it supplies up to 20 A RMS for 500 ms. Pulse-width modulation is generated at 8 kHz, and the current controller refreshes every 62.5 µs, resulting in motor current ripple centered at 16 kHz that stays below design limits. Velocity control is recalculated every 250 µs, supporting long-term speed regulation to 0.01%. Internal losses equal 132 W, and the unit dissipates this heat through its convection-rated enclosure without external cooling.
For axis positioning, resolver feedback is combined with a position loop that updates every 500 µs, enabling tight registration under changing inertia. Protective circuitry disconnects the stage when the bus voltage exceeds 430 VDC, falls below 90 VDC, or when the substrate temperature reaches 80 °C. The product resides in the Compact Drive family, weighs 2.69 kg, and interfaces with standard three-phase mains through a shielded connector set. During power-up, the drive checks resolver integrity and validates loop timing before enabling torque production. Diagnostic LEDs indicate bus status, temperature, and feedback health, allowing faults to be isolated quickly on the plant floor.
