Kollmorgen manufactures the CR10250 within its CD Servostar CD Drives series. This compact drive belongs to the compact drive product family and is intended as a current-controlled amplifier for servo motors in automated machinery. The unit converts line power into a pulse-width-modulated output that allows accurate torque, speed, and position regulation in packaging, material-handling, and general motion applications. The unit uses a standard 230 V logic input, which simplifies power wiring to the control electronics.
The drive processes current commands every 62.5 µs, giving a responsive torque loop that complements the speed loop, which refreshes at 250 µs, and the position loop, which updates in 500 µs. A pulse-width modulation frequency of 8 kHz shapes the output waveform, while resolver feedback closes the loops without the quantization errors associated with digital encoders. With a rated continuous phase output of 10 Amp and a short-term capability of 20 Arms, the amplifier can handle acceleration bursts without saturation. Supplied from a 230 VAC three-phase line, it draws 13 A and presents a power demand of 4.6 kVA, which affects upstream circuit breaker sizing and cable selection. Internally, 132 W of heat dissipation is produced and must be removed by cabinet airflow to maintain reliable operation.
Protective limits are integrated to shut the drive down before component damage occurs. An over-voltage trip activates at 430 VDC, and an under-voltage threshold at 90 VDC helps prevent brownout-induced fault states.
