The CR03560 drive is a compact digital amplifier built by Kollmorgen for the Servostar CD Drives series. Classified within the manufacturer’s Compact Drive family, this unit converts DC-bus power into a controlled three-phase output for brushless servo motors used in packaging, assembly, and material-handling equipment. It relies on resolver position feedback and accepts an analog ±10 VDC command, allowing motion controllers to regulate torque, velocity, or position through a simple voltage reference. This control arrangement supports accurate motor operation across a range of automated motion applications without requiring a complex command interface.
During operation, the drive delivers a continuous motor phase current of 3 A, while transient demands are handled by a peak current of 9 A RMS for up to 500 ms. Protection is based on a DC-bus operating window; the servo disables its output above 430 VDC or below 90 VDC to protect the power semiconductors and connected loads. A carrier frequency of 16 kHz modulates the output transistors, helping reduce audible noise and current distortion. The output bridge supports motor winding resistances up to 120 Ω, allowing the drive to operate with compatible high-impedance windings. These electrical limits should be considered when selecting a motor and configuring the shared DC supply.
The control electronics are powered by an external 24 VDC logic supply, separating low-level circuits from the high-energy DC link. The drive’s status relay can switch up to 1 A at 24 VDC, enabling a direct connection to interlock chains or PLC inputs. Internal power losses can reach 60 W, so the enclosure must provide enough airflow to remove the resulting heat. Current ripple at the motor terminals is shaped by a PWM carrier harmonic of 32 kHz, supporting smooth torque production at low speeds. Resolver excitation is supplied at 55 mA AC RMS with an applied voltage of 4.25 VAC. The resulting 2 VAC return signal is processed using a transformation ratio of 0.47, maintaining precise rotor-angle estimation when longer feedback cables are used.
