The CR03250 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the CD Servostar CD Drives series. Serving as a power interface between a motion controller and a brushless motor, it converts fixed-frequency mains into variable, regulated three-phase output so automated handling, packaging, and assembly stations achieve precise position and velocity control through closed-loop operation. The drive regulates motor current and voltage so commanded moves can be followed with repeatable acceleration and steady running speed. Closed-loop control also helps correct speed and position errors as the mechanical load changes during operation.
Its mechanical envelope supports dense cabinet layouts: the housing measures 67.3 mm in width, 163.0 mm in depth, and 256.0 mm in overall height, while weighing only 1.61 kg. That footprint corresponds to a form factor no greater than 1.01, letting the drive occupy minimal rack space. The slim housing helps it fit shallow or tightly packed control cabinets where side-by-side mounting space is limited. Resolver feedback is accepted on the motor side, and the sinusoidal output waveform produced by the inverter reduces torque ripple. The drive belongs to the Compact Drive product family, and the board set dissipates 60 W of internal heat that must be removed by enclosure airflow. The unit is supplied as standard with a 230 V logic input, and a 10 A line fuse protects the mains input.
Dynamic ratings govern electrical behavior. During rapid acceleration the drive can source a peak current of 9 Arms for 500 ms, while its continuous rated current is 3 A. Switching occurs at a 16 kHz PWM frequency, so motor audible noise is minimal. Fault circuitry trips if the DC bus exceeds 430 VDC, if temperature rises above 80 °C, or if voltage drops below the 90 VDC undervoltage limit. These protection thresholds respond to overvoltage, overtemperature, and undervoltage conditions during operation. The drive also reacts quickly to changing load demands during closed-loop motion control.
