The CE10560 is a single-axis servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the CD Servostar CD Drives series. It belongs to the manufacturer’s Compact Drive product family and provides closed-loop motor control in a space-efficient package. Installed between a motion controller and a permanent-magnet motor, the drive regulates torque, speed, or position for machine axes used in material handling, packaging, assembly, and other automated processes. Its single-axis architecture allows the connected controller to issue motion commands while the drive manages motor current and responds to feedback from the load.
The command stage accepts an analog ±10 VDC reference for velocity or torque commands. Differential feedback signals are processed through an encoder interface with a maximum input frequency of 3 MHz and a 5 VDC sensor supply, supporting accurate position and speed measurements. The drive delivers a continuous motor current of 10 A and can provide peak current of up to 20 A RMS for rapid acceleration or short periods of increased load. Motor current is pulse-width modulated at 8 kHz, balancing dynamic response with manageable switching losses. A separate 24 VDC logic supply keeps the control electronics active when the power stage is de-energized, allowing communication and status monitoring to continue. The housing measures 256.0 mm in height, 99.1 mm in width, and 163.0 mm in depth, which supports installation in compact control cabinets. The assembled drive weighs 2.69 kg, so its mounting surface and fasteners must support that load during normal machine operation.
The DC-bus monitor disconnects the power stage if the voltage rises to 430 VDC or falls to 90 VDC, protecting internal components during line-power disturbances. An internal thermal sensor trips at 80 °C to protect the IGBT module and gate driver from excessive temperature. Because the logic supply remains energized after a protective shutdown, diagnostic information can remain available while motor output is disabled. Thermal planning assumes steady heat dissipation of 132 W, so the enclosure must provide sufficient airflow to carry this heat away from the drive. Adequate spacing around the housing also helps prevent neighboring equipment from restricting ventilation. Rear wiring must be routed without sharp bends or pressure against connectors, and service clearance should allow access to power, feedback, and control connections.
