The CE10550 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the CD Servostar CD Drives series. Belonging to the company’s Compact Drive family, it converts fixed-frequency mains into a regulated, high-bandwidth output that controls brushless servomotors in packaging lines, electronic assembly stations, and material-handling axes. By combining power conversion, signal conditioning, and fault reporting in a single enclosure, the device simplifies the motion layer of industrial automation systems that require precise current, velocity, and position regulation.
The drive operates from a three-phase input rated at 230 VAC. Command data enter through a differential input that resolves motion requests to 14 Bit, and the reference channel accepts a standard ±10 VDC Analog signal so it can be driven directly by PLC or motion-controller outputs. Inside the control section, the current loop features a crossover of 2.5 kHz and is refreshed at 16 kHz; these values determine how quickly torque can be adjusted when the load changes. Rotor position is returned by an Encoder, allowing the controller to close its inner torque loop without observer algorithms or Hall emulation.
The power stage supplies up to 20 A rms for bursts lasting 2 s, supporting rapid acceleration of high-inertia loads before it settles to the 10 A continuous rating. At the velocity level, a loop bandwidth of 400 Hz works in conjunction with a 4000 Hz velocity update rate and a 2000 Hz position update rate to maintain tight following error. Logic power is sourced internally, and the integrated fault relay can switch 1 A at 24 V DC to signal upstream safety circuits. Digital outputs deliver up to 60 mA for status LEDs or user alarms, while three-phase input wiring reduces line current and minimizes harmonics compared with single-phase supplies.
