The CE03560 is a digital servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the Servostar CD Drives series. As a member of the Compact Drive family, it fits inside control cabinets and interfaces directly with brushless servomotors used in automated packaging, electronics assembly, and light material-handling equipment. The drive receives motion references through an analog ±10 VDC command interface, processes them with internal digital signal processing logic, and delivers modulated bus power so motor torque, velocity, and position follow the external motion profile. This arrangement allows the external controller to issue continuously variable commands while the drive regulates motor operation through its internal control loops.
Control precision is supported by a 16 kHz current loop and a 4 kHz velocity loop; these update rates provide the bandwidth needed for rapid disturbance rejection and stable response. Power is drawn from a 325 VDC nominal bus and supplied to the motor at a continuous current of 3 A RMS, while dynamic moves can reach 9 A for brief intervals before thermal protection intervenes. Excess mechanical energy is diverted to a shunt resistor with a minimum resistance of 20 ohms, and the circuit disengages once the bus decreases to the 370 VDC turn-off point. Command processing and diagnostics operate from an isolated 24 VDC logic supply, allowing the controller electronics to remain active when the motor power stage is disabled.
The encoder channel provides 5 VDC at up to 250 mA and accepts incremental feedback with resolutions as high as 10,000,000 counts per electrical cycle. Signal integrity is maintained with input frequencies up to 3 MHz and cable runs as long as 50 ft (15 m), allowing the feedback device to be mounted away from the cabinet without exceeding the supported distance. When the shared DC link rises to 390 VDC during aggressive deceleration, the regenerative circuit activates automatically and protects the bus while the returned energy is dissipated. The circuit remains active until the voltage decreases to its turn-off threshold, preventing unnecessary shunt operation after the regenerative event has ended. Incremental feedback is processed by the drive to maintain closed-loop control during precise indexing, speed changes, and coordinated axis movement.
