The CE03260 is a compact servo drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the CD Servostar CD Drives series. It provides closed-loop control for brushless servo motors in automated machinery and converts motion commands from a PLC into regulated current and voltage. By combining encoder feedback with internal power electronics, the unit maintains precise torque, speed, and position in packaging lines, material-handling axes, and general factory automation. Its compact format suits installations where panel space is limited but responsive motion control is still required. This control method allows the drive to correct speed and position errors quickly during start-up, stopping, and changing load conditions.

To interface with plant power, the drive accepts an AC mains input of 230 VAC and delivers a continuous phase current of 3 A to the motor. Its output is modulated at a carrier frequency of 16 kHz, which helps reduce audible noise and torque ripple during operation. The encoder channel can process feedback signals up to 3 MHz, allowing the controller to use fine position data from compatible encoders. A dedicated sensor supply of 5 VDC is available on the feedback connector, so the connected encoder does not need a separate power source. This arrangement supports stable speed regulation and accurate position correction during repeated motion cycles.

The encoder supply is rated for 250 mA, supporting feedback hardware over cable runs up to 15 m, and internal losses are 60 W at full load. Regenerative energy is diverted to an external shunt rated at 200 W with a resistance of 20 Ω. The shunt circuit is tied to DC-bus control thresholds of 390 VDC and 430 VDC to manage returned braking energy during deceleration. Thermal safeguarding trips the unit at 80 °C, and undervoltage and logic-power thresholds of 90 VDC and 24 VDC support orderly shutdown during mains disturbances. Standard 24 V logic inputs are included for digital command compatibility with common control hardware.
