Kollmorgen's CB10661-MZ is a digital drive module in the CD Servostar CD Drives series that conditions three-phase power and regulates servo motor velocity and torque on automated machinery. It is part of a compact drive platform that converts incoming mains energy, interfaces with motion controllers, and delivers closed-loop commands to connected actuators. By coordinating motor currents through vector control, the unit improves positioning accuracy and helps shorten cycle times in assembly lines, packaging stations, and material-handling axes. Closed-loop regulation also helps the drive respond quickly to load changes during repeated starts, stops, and indexing moves.
The drive accepts an input line of 380/480 VAC and draws up to 16 A/ph. Line frequency compatibility of 50/60 Hz allows use on common industrial power systems without frequency conversion equipment. At that supply, the converter can process 10/13 kW of apparent power, which reflects two rated voltage bands and indicates the thermal load that cabinet ventilation must handle. Resolver feedback is replaced by a Sine Encoder, so the current regulators receive high-resolution position data that improves servo stiffness and reduces audible ripple during low-speed moves. This feedback arrangement also supports smoother speed control and more consistent position tracking during motion changes.
On the output side, the inverter section delivers 5.2/6.5 kW of mechanical power while producing phase voltages of 520/650 VAC through its DC-to-AC conversion stage. This elevated voltage supports stable torque production at higher motor speeds and improves response during deceleration events. Continuous motor feed is limited to a rated current of 10 Amp, which sets the sustained current level for normal operation and helps determine compatible motor and cable loading. The Compact Drive format supports a reduced footprint and side-by-side mounting in control cabinets. The output stage is intended for servo applications that require repeatable acceleration, controlled deceleration, and stable operation across changing load conditions.
