The CB10661 servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen within the CD Servostar CD Drives series and is categorized under the Compact Drive product family. Designed for cabinet mounting, the unit supplies regulated three-phase power to brushless servomotors and exchanges motion commands over a SERCOS fiber-optic link. In an automation cell, it closes the motor’s torque, velocity, and position loops in real time so that conveyors, pick-and-place axes, or indexing tables follow the programmed trajectory with repeatable accuracy. This arrangement keeps the power electronics in the cabinet while the motor remains at the machine axis.

The current loop inside the CB10661 is refreshed at 16 kHz, allowing the drive to react quickly to load changes before they disturb shaft speed. The position loop is executed at 2 kHz, which helps limit following error during multi-axis interpolation. Motor switching devices operate with a PWM carrier of 8 kHz, striking a balance between acoustic noise and switching loss. At start-up or during rapid acceleration, the amplifier can deliver a peak output current of 20 A rms for 500 ms, while its continuous input demand reaches 4.6 kVA from the three-phase mains. Motion feedback is supplied by a sine encoder, and the drive receives external 24 VDC logic power so the control electronics stay active during line power loss. This supports communication and fault handling when the main supply is removed.

During continuous operation, the drive supplies up to 10 A of phase current while converting switching losses into 132 W of internal heat that must be removed by the control cabinet airflow. Because that heat is released inside the enclosure, panel ventilation must carry it away from nearby components. It is intended for plants wired to a nominal line of 230 VAC, and protective circuitry disconnects power if DC bus voltage exceeds 430 VDC or falls below 90 VDC. Thermal monitoring opens the same path at 80 °C on the heat sink. With enclosure connections and filtering included, the unit weighs 2.69 kg, allowing dense stacking with other CD Servostar modules without excessive panel load.
