Product Description:

The CB10550 servo drive comes from the SERVOSTAR CD series by Kollmorgen with the aim of delivering of highly accurate motor control solutions for industry. The drive has improved capabilities which make it possible for the drive to operate under a range of control schemes and sources of feedback.

The CB10550 servo drive consumes an initial 230 VAC input voltage and outputs a constant current of 10 A, which rises to 20 A during peak usage. The drive is engineered with multiple control regimes including current, velocity and position control to address varied application requirements. Command inputs are supported by ±10 VDC analog signals, pulse and direction, or digital protocols that include SERCOS. The drive is compatible with resolver, incremental encoder and sine encoder feedback to support various motors configurations. At a PWM switching frequency of 16 kHz, the CB10550 servo drive enables smooth transmission of motors. This drive has six digital inputs; one digital output, one analog input, and one analog output as a full I/O. The dimensions of the drive are only 150 mm x 100 mm x 75 mm and its weight approximates to 1.2 kg. Specifically for panel-mounting, the drive is certified to be operational at the range of -20°C to 70°C.

The CB10550 servo drive is also fitted with a thermal magnetic trip device that can tolerate 50 A current and provide protection at a 480 volts AC voltage. The drive allows for up to 18 kAIC interrupting current and is in a 3-pole arrangement. The housing of the drive is made of molded plastic, which increases both strength and electrical insulation. Protection is provided for the electrical connections through integrating screw terminals. This feature makes the drive suitable for the standard industrial volts needs via support of 50/60 Hz frequency.

Frequently Asked Questions about CB10550:

Q: Why is the molded plastic housing significant in the CB10550 servo drive design?

A: The molded plastic housing enhances electrical insulation and reduces the risk of short circuits. It also contributes to the lightweight construction of the CB10550.

Q: How does the thermal magnetic trip device benefit the CB10550 servo drive under overload conditions?

A: This device provides rapid protection by disconnecting the drive during overloads. It safeguards both the CB10550 drive and connected equipment from potential damage.

Q: Why is resolver feedback important for the CB10550 servo drive’s motion control applications?

A: Resolver feedback provides highly accurate angular position data in harsh environments. This makes the CB10550 ideal for industrial automation requiring precision and reliability.

Q: How does the CB10550 servo drive handle high interrupting current up to 18 kAIC?

A: The CB10550 is equipped with a 3-pole thermal magnetic trip system capable of safely managing high fault currents. This enhances system protection and operational reliability.

Q: What is the significance of the CB10550 servo drive’s compatibility with sine encoders?

A: Sine encoders provide high-resolution feedback for ultra-smooth motor control. This ensures the CB10550 achieves exceptional accuracy in demanding positioning applications.

Internal Product Review

  • ‘‘The CB10550 servo drive by Kollmorgen stands out for its multi-regime control options, including current, velocity, and position control. Its durable molded plastic housing, six digital inputs, advanced screw terminal protection, and compatibility with incremental and sine encoders make it a highly reliable industrial motor control solution.’’
