Product Description:

The CB06260 is a digital servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the CD Servostar CD Drives series. It interfaces between the industrial power supply and a sine-encoder-equipped servomotor, supplying regulated phase current while monitoring real-time feedback. In an automation cell, it closes the electrical power loop, allowing a motion controller to issue precise torque, speed, or position commands that move actuators on conveyors, pick-and-place gantries, or indexing tables.

This drive accepts an input of 115/230 VAC and supports a continuous output of 6 A, with transient demands handled by a peak capability of 18 A rms for 500 ms. Current is modulated through a carrier that switches at 8 kHz, balancing dynamic response with switching losses, while the control electronics remove power if the heat sink reaches 80 °C. Internally, its current loop refreshes at 16 kHz, the velocity loop at 4 kHz, and the position loop at 2 kHz, so command changes are quickly translated into motor motion. An overvoltage threshold of 430 VDC opens the DC-bus dump circuit to protect semiconductors against regenerated energy. Sine-encoder feedback is accepted at a differential level of 1 Vp-p, and an encoder supply of 250 mA is available for the sensing electronics.

Control logic is powered from an external 24 VDC source, allowing the axis to keep fieldbus communication active even when the main power supply is removed. The analog reference channel resolves motion commands to 14-bit resolution, supporting fine incremental moves, while the EEO interface streams encoder data at up to 1.2 MHz for high-speed phase interpolation. Kollmorgen recommends motor cables no longer than 15 m to maintain signal integrity and limit capacitive loading. Standard hardware includes a 24 V logic input bus for enable, inhibit, and reset functions, giving machine designers discrete control over the drive state without occupying network bandwidth.
