The CB06250 servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the Servostar CD Drives series. It belongs to the Compact Drive product family, providing closed-loop control in electrical cabinets with limited space. The module translates voltage or network references into three-phase motor current, performs digital regulation, and supports sine encoder feedback so motion controllers can command torque, velocity, or position without additional interface boards. Used in packaging, pick-and-place, and automated assembly stations, the drive operates with the standard 230 V input provided on this model. Its compact design allows the controller to support precise motion without requiring a large cabinet footprint.
An analog command port accepts a -10 to +10 V signal that is sampled and passed to the current regulator every 62.5 µs, allowing loop bandwidths up to 2.4 kHz for responsive torque tracking. The power stage provides a continuous current rating of 6 A, making it suitable for compatible medium-frame servo motors. Velocity regulation remains below 400 Hz, with a 250 µs computational period that balances dynamic response and noise immunity. The encoder electronics supply 5 VDC and up to 250 mA to the transducer. They also condition the 1 Vpp sine signals, supporting line frequencies up to 125 kHz while keeping the quadrature-equivalent output within the 1.2 MHz limit. A sine encoder feedback path helps reduce cogging and improve fine positioning.
The position algorithm executes every 500 µs, allowing the controller to close an outer position loop without placing an unnecessary processing load on the fieldbus. Incoming commands have a resolution of 14 bits, which accommodates low-noise analog sensors and minimizes quantization error. Installation is simplified by preassembled motor and feedback harnesses that can be extended to a maximum length of 50 ft (15 m). The housing weighs only 4.9 lb (2.22 kg), reducing the load placed on cabinet mounting surfaces. The lightweight enclosure is easier to position where panel depth and available mounting area are restricted. Motor and feedback connections remain organized through the dedicated harnesses, helping prevent signal wiring from interfering with power conductors inside the enclosure.
