Product Description:
The AKM2G-62M-ASS2AB-O2 is a servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM2G Magnetic Motors series. In automated machinery, it converts drive current into controlled rotary motion for precise positioning and velocity regulation on packaging, handling, and processing axes. The motor uses an IEC flange with accuracy class N and has a 142 mm frame, allowing direct attachment to compatible gearheads or mounting plates. Motion feedback is supplied by a BiSS-B optical sine encoder that supports absolute position tracking across 4,096 revolutions.
The electromagnetic section delivers a continuous stall torque of 15.1 N·m while drawing a stall current of 14.6 Arms per phase. At nominal duty, the motor supplies 9.61 N·m of torque. An internal PTC sensor monitors winding temperature, while the stator has an inductance of 7 mH and a phase resistance of 0.47 Ω. A torque constant of 1.04 N·m/Arms provides predictable torque in proportion to current, and a back-EMF constant of 70.3 Vrms/kRPM supports operation with compatible 400 VAC servo drives. The rotor uses a length index 2 magnetic stack and has an inertia of 0.00091 kg·m², supporting responsive acceleration during short motion cycles. A 24 V permanent-magnet holding brake applies 32 N·m to secure the shaft when motion stops, and the shaft uses the special design selected for this motor configuration.
During dynamic operation, the motor tolerates a peak torque of 37.4 N·m and a peak phase current of 43.7 Arms for brief intervals. Its maximum speed is 5000 RPM, allowing rapid indexing and high-speed positioning when the connected drive remains within the permitted torque range. Power and feedback signals pass through a special keyed connector, and the connector interface is sealed to IP65 to resist dust and low-pressure water jets. The permitted operating temperature ranges from 5 °C to 40 °C, with ambient humidity up to 95% when condensation is absent. During dwell periods, the holding brake can secure a stationary load without requiring the motor to produce continuous holding torque, which helps limit winding heat while the axis remains stopped.
