Product Description:
The AKM2G-53H-ASCNLD02 is a servo motor built by Kollmorgen for the AKM2G Magnetic Motors series. Within an automation cell, the unit converts drive current into controlled rotary motion, providing the position and velocity accuracy required by indexing tables, pick-and-place axes, and light-duty packaging machinery. Its IEC flange allows direct attachment to compatible gearheads or machine frames, reducing the need for separate mounting adapters. The special shaft profile transfers torque to the connected load without requiring an additional coupling between the motor and the driven component.
The connector housing is sealed to IP65, protecting the internal connections against dust and low-pressure water jets near coolant spray or airborne particles. Power and feedback signals pass through two SpeedTec M23 connectors, which use quarter-turn locking mechanisms for quick and secure connections. Rotor position data is supplied by an EnDat 2.2/22 inductive encoder, enabling high-resolution synchronous control through a serial interface. The square frame measures 114 mm across the mounting face, keeping the motor compact while providing sufficient space for the stator windings. Continuous operation is permitted at ambient temperatures from 5 to 40 °C, helping the motor maintain stable performance inside guarded enclosures or near process equipment.
The winding insulation tolerates up to 95% relative humidity without condensation, allowing operation in areas that experience temporary increases in moisture. Internal temperature is monitored by a combined PT-1000 and PTC sensor pair. The PT-1000 element provides temperature data to the drive, while the PTC element supports an overtemperature response when the internal temperature rises beyond its threshold. The stator and rotor assembly has rotor length 3, providing greater torque capacity than shorter rotor options in the same frame. The motor is supplied without a brake, so any axis that requires mechanical holding must use an external device or drive-applied torque while stopped. The lack of an integrated brake also reduces the rotating assembly’s mass and avoids adding brake-related components at the non-drive end.
