The AKM72Q-ANCNGB-00 is a synchronous servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen and supplied as part of the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It connects to compatible digital servo drives to provide precise velocity and position control for packaging lines, electronic assembly cells, and material-handling gantries. High-resolution feedback supports repeatable rotary motion in applications that require fast dynamic response, accurate positioning, and stable operation during frequent acceleration and deceleration. The compact frame also helps the motor fit into machinery where installation space is limited.
Power and feedback cables leave the housing through two SPEEDTEC-ready connectors, which use keyed push-and-turn mating for secure connections without additional tools. The motor is supplied without a brake, so the drive or an external mechanical device must provide stopping and holding torque when the axis is stationary. Rotary output is transmitted through a smooth shaft, which supports clamping couplings and helps reduce runout when connected to gears, pulleys, or other driven components. Integrated position sensing is provided by a HIPERFACE encoder that sends commutation, velocity, and absolute position data to the drive. The encoder has a resolution of 128 lines per revolution, providing fine incremental position counts after the signals are interpolated by the servo drive. This feedback arrangement allows the controller to correct motion errors quickly during demanding positioning cycles.
The feedback channel retains position across multiple shaft revolutions through a multi-turn optical tracking system based on the SKM36 scanning principle. This capability allows the drive to recover the axis position after a power cycle without requiring a new homing sequence. Motor alignment follows an IEC flange with accuracy class N, supporting consistent positioning when the housing is attached to a machine plate or gearbox. The square stator package measures 188 mm across the bolt circle, providing the mounting footprint needed for the AKM72 frame. Internal laminations use the Q winding designation, while rotor length 2 establishes the magnetic stack depth used to balance available torque and rotor inertia. Compatible drives must support the SKM36 feedback code to process the motor’s optical position signals correctly.
