Product Description:
The AKM64P-ANC2AB-01 is a brushless AC servo motor developed by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop positioning, it works with digital drives to deliver repeatable torque and speed in pick-and-place modules, gantry axes, and light machining centers. The motor’s electromagnetic stack, thermal management, and encoder interface support the accuracy required for coordinated multi-axis motion. In these roles, the motor is used where axis repeatability and fast response must be maintained through changing loads and frequent direction changes. Its brushless design also supports consistent operation during repeated start-stop cycles.
A factory-mounted 24 V holding brake locks the shaft during power-off events so vertical loads can remain stationary. Power and feedback exit through 2 SpeedTec Ready connectors, a keyed arrangement that shortens cable hookup time and maintains sealing at the housing. Position data is generated by a BiSS B encoder that supplies differential serial frames at a base resolution of 2048 lines/rev. The 138 mm frame size matches IEC motor plates used with size 100 gearboxes, which helps the motor fit standard machine interfaces without adapter rings. Separate motor and feedback connections also help keep cable routing organized where space around the axis is limited.
The feedback system uses multi-turn optical scanning with an AD34/AD58 interface option, so absolute position is retained across power cycles without batteries. Optical feedback supports fine position capture, while the multi-turn format preserves turn count during shutdowns and restarts. An IEC flange with accuracy N helps keep concentricity error low, and output is delivered through a smooth shaft that suits clamp couplings or pulley hubs. Rotor length index 4 provides the magnetic volume for mid-range torque, while winding designation P aligns the electrical characteristics with 230/400 V class inverters. Absolute position retention reduces the need for a new homing sequence after a restart.
