The AKM62P-ASSNR-03 servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is a permanent-magnet synchronous motor that supplies tightly regulated torque for indexing equipment, gantries, and general motion axes in industrial automation. Electronic commutation allows a compatible servo drive to regulate torque, speed, and position in response to changing motion commands. Within the type code, AKM6 indicates a 138 mm square frame, while the numeral 2 indicates the second rotor length for this motor platform.
This model is supplied without a brake, so an external holding device or drive-generated torque must secure vertical loads when the motor is stopped. Power and feedback conductors exit through a special connector arrangement that differs from the usual AKM orientation and supports suitable cable routing within the machine. Rotor position is measured by a 2-pole resolver, which delivers sine-cosine signals that remain reliable under vibration and temperature changes. The feedback package provides single-turn feedback, allowing the drive to determine the shaft angle within one mechanical revolution without using a multi-turn encoder. Resolver signals also provide the drive with the rotor position information needed for electronic commutation and closed-loop motion control.
The resolver uses a Size 10/15/21 resolver housing that establishes its mounting envelope within the motor assembly. Shaft torque is transferred through special end machining intended for the required load connection, while mounting bolts seat against an IEC flange with accuracy class N. The flange supports accurate motor alignment with a compatible gearbox, coupling, or machine frame, helping reduce unwanted loading caused by installation misalignment. Internal copper conductors use winding designation P, which provides electrical characteristics suited to medium bus voltages and cyclic motion. The selected rotor length and winding support controlled acceleration and stable speed regulation when the motor is operated with a compatible digital servo drive.
